Silent Hill Pachinko

April 11, 2023

The Silent Hill Pachislot machine was released in Japan in 2015, to much fan outrage, and due to weird laws surrounding gambling in Japan. Below are some images describing gameplay and of some of the characters and monsters.

Escape was the original based on Silent Hill 2, and The Return was from 2019 and based on Silent Hill 3.

I guess this is the "system?"

Above are the images in the slot machine part of the screen. I am working on a small version of this in Unity right now to at least similate the slots part.

There are three rows, and below them, three round buttons. These stop each row, but the game will tell you which order to press them in. Sometimes you're just supposed to match up symbols in a row. Bonus areas show you scenes with characters.

The "bar" is the Silent Hill logo.

The Return

This was a different machine, based on Silent Hill 3. Strangely, Heather is fighting Downpour monsters.

This version had five rows instead of three.

In chase sequences, winning would get Heather further from the monster, losing would make her lose ground and eventually die.

Above are some of the symbols.

Sources/shoutouts:

AnEternalEnigma, one of the two people I'm aware of who have this, has streamed it at length on Twitch, which helped me immensely with understanding how it worked.

Likewise, Whitney, Chemiro on Twitch, has made great videos for this on her YouTube channel and is the other person I know of who owns this.

Silent Hill Paradise also has a good page about this.

Other than that, some of the images (the PNG files, inter alia) come from the original official website which is no longer online, and even with the wayback machine, a lot of the images/info isn't there anymore. Likewise, it looks like the official YT channels for these took down the trailers, though thankfully some fans saved and reuploaded, which is where I got most of the screens here, that and from the official information book, which I have (can't afford the machine, got the guide instead.)
